Mezzo-soprano Susan Ali has most recently performed Carmen arias with the Orange Coast College sponsored Symphony Orchestra, 21st century art song selections at a New Music Festival in Los Angeles County, and as Mezzo-soprano soloist in Robert Denham’s new oratorio premiere of Under the Shadow with the Pacific Symphony Chamber Orchestra conducted by Maestro Carl St. Clair.  Susan has enjoyed performing under the baton of Maestro Ricardo Soto in the roles of Sally in Sondheim’s Follies and Lucy in Sondheim’s Sweeney Todd; and in the performance of Gershwin selections. Ms. Ali has also recently enjoyed solo engagements in performances of Mahler’s Symphony No. 2, Symphony No. 3, and Symphony No. 4.


Susan has performed with San Diego Chamber Orchestra, Pasadena Pops, Pacific Symphony Orchestra, Dana Point Symphony, Montage Orchestra, Orange County Opera, South Bay Opera, Concordia Masterworks, and with a variety of other regional orchestras. Solo concert engagements include Beethoven Symphony No. 9, Handel’s Messiah, Mozart Requiem, Falla’s El Amor Brujo, Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass, and Honegger’s King David Oratorio.


Some on-stage roles Ms. Ali has enjoyed performing are the title role in Carmen, the Witch in Hansel and Gretel, Marcellina inLe Nozze di Figaro, Maria in The Sound of Music, Nancy in Oliver, and Dinah in Trouble in Tahiti.


Ms. Ali is an adjunct music faculty member at Orange Coast College, and is on the full-time music faculty at Cal Poly Pomona.
